People with Experience Workshop - Giving Voice to Experience Through Creative Words (The Durham Centre, Belmont Industrial Estate, Durham DH1 1TD, from **2012-02-09 12:30:00 to 2012-02-09 16:30:00)
A half day workshop to develop skills in creative writing and produce material for health and social care education Facilitator – Sue Spencer, Writer and Senior Lecturer, School of Health, Community and Education Studies, Northumbria University. Sue works with staff, students and a range of agencies on creative writing skill development. This workshop will be of interest to service users, carers, clinicians, manager, academics and researchers in health and social care. Participants will have the opportunity to respond to exercises that help generate creative work. The material created on the day may be used to support the pre- and post-qualifying education of health and social care professionals.
Workshop - Inter-Professional Learning (IPL) in the Practice Setting: Developing Skills for IPL Facilitation, 1st March 2012 (The Education Centre, Junction Road, Norton TS20 1PR, from **2012-03-01 12:30:00 to 2012-03-01 16:00:00)
This half day workshop is free of charge and is intended for clinical teachers/ mentors/ educators who support the clinical practice-based learning of students in health, social care and education settings and who have an interest in developing their own confidence and skills to facilitate interprofessional learning with students. The Workshop will be interactive and interprofessional, offering participants an opportunity to learn with, from and about each other as educators and to reflect on their own role in facilitating clinical practice-based IPL. The workshop is designed for those who have some experience and understanding of interprofessional learning and who wish to build on their existing knowledge and skills.
Using and Creating Sustainable Learning and Teaching Resources (Room M3.05 Middlesbrough Tower, Teesside University, Middlesbrough TS1 3BA, from **2012-03-07 12:30:00 to 2012-03-07 16:00:00)
This workshop will explore using open educational resources for learning and teaching as well as giving you the opportunity to discover how to safely share/protect your own resources under appropriate licences. The session is designed to appeal to those in both academic and practice settings and is being facilitated by the HEA Subject Centre for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Sciences. Learning Outcomes At the end of the workshop participants will: Be able to confidently use resources such as images and resources from the internet and elsewhere, attributing content creators (copyright owners), when creating teaching and learning resources. Understand the difference between copyright ownership and licencing and how to use resources shared under licence. Be able to clearly indicate the copyright status of any works you have created using an appropriate Creative Commons licence. Be aware of how to deal with consent issues in using patient data in learning and teaching resources. Exemplify best practice in 'digital professionalism' and manage risks when creating sustainable teaching resources.
